Another location story

I know I’ve been harping on that organization, and I promise this is my last story about them (okay, maybe one more), but, man, they cause more trouble then they are worth! This is the story of filming our indie movie at the famous La Brea Tarpits. For those of you who aren’t from Los Angeles, that’s the famous park with the statues of woolly mammoths coming out of the water. In our story, Tabby and Steve go for a little tour of Hollywood as they are getting to know each other. They wander down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and later end up having a deep conversation about life in the park at the La Brea Tarpits. We got a permit to shoot this. We followed the directions. But the day of shooting at the park, a security guard comes up to our crew and tells us we can’t film there. Edwin whips out the permit to show the guy and he says, “No one is allowed to film here right now. I don’t know why they gave you a permit.” So apparently, our favorite group, friend to all independent film makers, sold us a permit to film at a place where no one was supposed to be filming that month. Lucky for us, the guard took pity on our small crew and said he was going to do his rounds and if we could be gone by the time he got back, he wouldn’t shut us down. Our luck held out for that one. #hollywood #hollywoodwalkoffame #hollywoodmovie
